Removing a Pocket from a LuLaRoe Carly
Have you thought about removing a pocket from a LuLaRoe Carly dress? Did you know it is super easy to remove a pocket? I have a LuLaRoe Carly dress that I wanted to remove the pocket, but was hesitant. The truth is it’s super easy to do with the right tool and some patience. You can remove a pocket that is sewn on top, but this does not work for removing an interior pocket.
Tools You Will Need
You need a good seam ripper, lint roller, and possibly a small scissors and iron or steamer. There are many different kinds of seam rippers, but a good brand is Clover.
You want to make sure you take your time, and make sure you are only getting the thread that attaches the pocket. If you get some of the fabric in the seam ripper you could make a small hole in the fabric. So take your time!
Steps to Remove Pocket
It is sometimes easier to start removing the seam on top of the pocket. This is forgiving if you accidentally get some of the pocket in the seam ripper. Go one stitch at a time and work around the pocket. Once you have it going, you can pull the pocket up and work between the piece and the pocket. You can also flip it over to get the seam on the inside of the fabric.
Once you have gone around the pocket, gently pull on the pocket to remove. If there are any stitches that are still attached, use the seam ripper on those too. You may be able to use the little scissors on them. In the example we only used the seam ripper.
What to Do Next
When the pocket is removed there are some loose threads. Take the lint roller one go over the fabric. You will want to do the top side and underneath. Once you can see the fabric without the packet, if it is visible where the pocket was, you can use a steamer or an iron with steam to remove areas that you can see the stitching. Make sure to have something between the iron and fabric.
That is it! Now go enjoy your new piece and find us HERE.
